Rouge Ultimate G3 Review: Biggest Panel I've Tested!

Here's an in-depth Rouge Ultimate G3 panel review - with all the pros and cons you can imagine!

Rouge Ultimate G3 Review: Biggest Panel I've Tested!
On this page
Introduction

The Rouge Ultimate G3 (code ALEX saves) is a massive red light therapy panel, the biggest one I’ve ever reviewed.

In my comprehensive review, I’ll help you determine if this is the right panel for you. I’ll also give my thoughts on whether to go for an all-in-one body panel or multiple smaller panels.

What You Need to Know:

This is a panel from Rouge, a Canadian company. Rouge has been operating in the red light therapy industry for a long time and has earned a reputation for its high-quality panels.

🖥️
In my 2024 Best Panel Comparison series, the Rouge panel placed fourth out of 17.

The Rouge Ultimate G3 boasts 1200 LEDs. Measuring a towering 71 inches tall and 24 inches wide, it covers my entire body, providing extensive light coverage from just one unit.

It requires only one power outlet, comes with a nice manual, and has features like dimmingpulsing, and a remote control.

There is a wall mounting bracket. If you want to fix it on the wall, this bracket is a good choice. It’s comparable to the bracket I use for my BioMax 900s. If there are no kids running around, you can simply lean the large and heavy panel against the wall.

Setting up the Rouge Ultimate is relatively straightforward, although its size and weight (90 pounds/40 kilos) can be cumbersome.

This comparison photo highlights the significant size variation between Rouge Ultimate, Block Blue Light Mega, and Rodeo Refine 900.

Let’s fire up the spectrometer!

Wavelengths

This panel has 660nm red light and 850nm near-infrared, which is confirmed with peaks at 660nm and 851nm.

Power

• At six inches, the radiant output was 101mW/cm². Though lower than the claimed 200mW/cm², measured with a solar meter, it’s still impressive.

• My average irradiance reading across nine points was 79mW/cm², translating to a total power output of 738 watts. I must admit, on a panel this large, that reading isn’t super accurate. I typically go around the border, but because it’s such a wide panel, it’s not the best form of measurement.

☀️
I hope we can establish a new industry standard for radiance testing. This will affect the industry greatly and enable you to assess the panels accurately.

EMF and Sound

EMFs were at rock bottom, which is great. Sound levels were 56 decibels at 6 inches.

Price and Shipping

The Rouge Ultimate retails for $5,500. If you use my discount code, Alex, it’s $4,113.

Shipping to the United States is free. Although shipping is free to several other countries, such as Canada and the UK, I was surprised to discover that the taxes added up to roughly one thousand dollars.

There is no shipping to Australia because Australia has some unique rules.

There’s a 60-day returns period and a three-year warranty.

Value

Using the Light Therapy Insider’s shopping tool and sorting by irradiance, this panel has a rating of 78.9, placing it in the top 10 for average irradiance. It ranks first in total power, being twice as large as any other panel.

The value metric is interesting; it is currently in a favorable position of 6.6. The latest BioMax 8th Generation panel, with 300 LEDs, is slightly better, and the Hooga 300, with only 60 LEDs, offers even better value.

In this evaluation, both price and power are considered. While some might find its value slightly disappointing compared to smaller panels, it still ranks at the top among the 60 panels in the database.

Stands

• A motorized stand is $1200.
• A non-motorized vertical stand is approximately $600.
• The panel comes with a wall-mounted bracket.

The Rouge Ultimate G3 is massive!

Pros

  • Extensive Body Coverage: One panel covers the entire body, offering head-to-toe, shoulder-to-shoulder light exposure.
  • High Power Output: This device delivers a significant amount of energy, with confirmed peaks at 660nm and 851nm. It includes features such as pulsing and dimming.
  • Low EMF Levels: Rock-bottom EMF readings ensure safe usage.
  • Manageable Sound Levels: Operates at 56 decibels, which is relatively quiet for such a large device.
  • Included Accessories: Comes with a wall-mount bracket, a remote control, and two spare batteries.
  • Free shipping to the United States: U.S. customers can enjoy free shipping, saving on substantial shipping costs.
  • Established Brand: Manufactured by Rouge, a company with a strong reputation in the red light therapy market.
  • Manual: Easy to read and informative.
  • Price: The price of the panel is competitive and well-priced for what you’re getting.

Cons

  • Limited Wavelengths: It only offers light at 660nm and 850nm, lacking the variety found in other modern panels.
  • Basic Control Panel: This product comes with a basic control panel lacking advanced features or menu options. The remote control is convenient but requires a line of sight for detailed adjustments.
  • Heavy and Bulky: It weighs 90 pounds, making it difficult to move and set up without help.
  • High International Shipping Taxes: Significant taxes and fees for international shipping, especially to Canada and the UK.
  • Potential power compatibility problems: The Rouge Ultimate G3 draws 20 amps on a 110V circuit. Issues may arise because residential homes rarely have a 20-amp outlet, and an electrician may be required.
  • No Australian Shipping: Not available for shipping to Australia because of local regulations.

Conclusion

Overall, I love the Rouge Ultimate G3 for its impressive size and high power output, allowing for efficient sessions with 5-10 minutes on each side.

However, the lack of alternative wavelengths and a more advanced control panel is disappointing. Despite these drawbacks, it’s a solid choice for those seeking extensive coverage in a single panel and should be on your shortlist, especially if your budget allows.

Before deciding, consider smaller panels or setups like the Platinum LED BioMax 900 quad setup, which offers more flexibility and additional wavelengths.

Other Considerations:

Rouge Max G3
A smaller sibling to the Ultimate, the Rouge Max G3 is half the size and has 600 LEDs. It’s lighter, more manageable, and less expensive. You could start with one and add another later, or place two side-by-side for a similar coverage as the Ultimate.

Pro RLT Commercial Line
The Pro RLT commercial line, including Mito Red Light, offers excellent quality and versatility.

These panels provide four different wavelengths, an upgrade from the two in the Rouge Ultimate G3, and feature advanced control systems. They come with extensive support, including marketing assistance and training, making them ideal for commercial use.

However, they are more expensive than the Rouge Ultimate. If you value these additional features and support, the Pro RLT panels are worth considering.

Platinum LED BioMax 900 Quad Setup
My personal setup includes Platinum LED’s quad setup, BioMax 900 panels are linked. This configuration offers significant discounts when purchasing all four panels together from Platinum LED, especially when using my affiliate link

With four BioMax 900s you would get 1200 LEDs for less than the cost of the Ultimate G3. The BioMax 900 is the most powerful panel on the market, featuring seven wavelengths, a touchscreen control panel, app integration, and various stand options.

This setup has a downside: you might experience less uniform light coverage because of the gaps between panels. Despite this, the panels are easier to move, more manageable, and offer extra wavelengths and power.
