If you've been waiting for a full-sized head-to-toe red light therapy panel, the Block Blue Light Ultimate XXL is finally here. This is the largest panel the company has ever produced, packed with exciting features.
Here's my full review, which you should read until the end: I compare it to the incredibly popular Rojo Refine 3600.

First Look at the Block Blue Light Ultimate XXL
This panel is massive. It is 71 inches (180 cm) tall, 24 inches (61 cm) wide, and weighs 90 pounds. With 1200 dual-chip LEDs, each lens on the panel contains two powerful chips to maximize light coverage.
Previously, Block Blue Light's largest panel was the Elite, which secured second place in my 2024 Body Panel Comparison. While the Elite was a strong contender, many users found it slightly too small. The Ultimate addresses that concern with an actual full-body experience.
Advanced Features and New Innovations
The advanced control system is one of the most exciting upgrades in the Ultimate XXL. This panel allows you to adjust the power output of each wavelength individually. While this feature isn't new to the industry—it was first seen in the Rojo panel—it is highly requested and a fantastic addition.
You can save your custom power blends as presets directly into the panel. Unlike the Rojo, however, it doesn’t come with preloaded preset modes, such as muscle recovery or sleep settings. However, the app allows you to work seamlessly with customized stored settings.
Wavelengths
The Ultimate XXL emits five wavelengths:
- 630nm (25% of total output)
- 660nm (25% of total output)
- 810nm, 830nm, and 850nm (Remaining 50% split among these near-infrared wavelengths)
Let's fire up the spectrometer!
I took a snapshot reading using my spectrometer, and the results were mostly aligned with Block Blue Light’s claims:
- 630nm: Peaked at 631 nm (accurate)
- 660nm: Peaked at 664 nm (slightly off but within range)
- 810 nm: Measured at 818 nm (slightly above ideal but still effective)
- 830nm and 850nm: Both matched their expected peaks
The consistency of the light blend across different areas of the panel is impressive. There are no dead zones where specific wavelengths dominate while others are weak, ensuring even exposure.
Irradiance Measurements
Block Blue Light claims a peak irradiance of 189 mW/cm² with a solar meter or 90 mW/cm² when measured with a spectrometer.
My spectrometer readings found slightly lower numbers:
- Peak: Around 85-86 mW/cm²
- Average across the panel: 75 mW/cm²
While these numbers are lower than the advertised peak, they're still solid. Many companies only provide solar meter readings, which tend to be inflated, so it's refreshing to see Block Blue Light also list spectrometer-based values.
Price and Value Breakdown
The Ultimate XXL is priced at $4,499, but with my discount code (ALEX), you can save 15%, bringing the price down to $3,825.
Now, let’s talk value. If you head over to Light Therapy Insiders’ shopping tool, you can compare panels based on cost per watt of therapeutic red light. The Ultimate XXL comes in at $5.30 per watt, making it an exceptional deal—only slightly behind the Rojo Refine 3600.
For comparison:
- The Rojo 3600 is cheaper but has slightly lower power output.
- Other panels in the market tend to be far less cost-effective.
Shipping and Warranty
Considering the size and weight, you'd expect shipping to be expensive, but US customers pay just $30 for delivery. If you're in Australia, it's even lower at $20. Block Blue Light has warehouses in multiple regions, including the US, Canada, UK, and Europe, so shipping is cost-effective for many locations.
The panel comes with a five-year warranty anda 100,000-hour lifespan on LEDs. It also has a 30-day return policy if you decide it’s not the right fit.
Accessories and Stand Options
Each purchase includes:
- A pair of goggles
- A detailed user manual
- A wall mounting bracket
- A remote control
- App connectivity
You can also buy a heavy-duty vertical or horizontal stand for $500, but it's not electric. An electric stand would have been an excellent addition for a panel of this caliber, but unfortunately, it’s not an option.
My Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Finally, a true full-body panel from Block Blue Light
- Dual-chip LEDs for enhanced light output
- Even wavelength distribution across the panel
- Five wavelengths (including the crucial 810, 830, and 850nm)
- Customizable presets and an advanced app
- Dimming and pulsing features
- Excellent price-to-power ratio
- Five-year warranty and low-cost shipping
Cons:
- 810nm peak is slightly off (measured at 818 nm)
- No 590nm amber light or 1060nm near-infrared
- Lacks preloaded preset modes (though you can save your own)
- The stand is expensive ($500) and not electric.
How It Compares to the Rojo Refine 3600
Both panels are similar in size, power, and features. Each has 1200 dual-chip LEDs, pulsing modes, adjustable power output per wavelength, and an app.
However, some key differences exist:
- Power Output: The Ultimate XXL is slightly more powerful (75 mW/cm² avg. vs. Rojo’s 72 mW/cm²)
- Warranty: Block Blue Light offers five years, while Rojo only offers three
- Preset Modes: Rojo has preloaded modes, while Block Blue Light does not
- App Experience: Block Blue Light’s app is more polished
- Price: Rojo is $400 cheaper than the Ultimate XXL
Final Verdict: Should You Buy the Ultimate XXL?
This is a phenomenal panel. If I had to choose just one red light therapy device for the rest of my life, I’d be happy with the Ultimate XXL. It has full-body coverage, strong power output, customizable settings, and a great price point.
For those looking for a high-powered, premium body panel with customization features, the Block Blue Light Ultimate XXL is an excellent choice. If budget is your primary concern, the Rojo 3600 is a strong alternative at a slightly lower price, but you’ll sacrifice some power and warranty coverage.
Regardless of your choice, the red light therapy space continues to evolve, and with panels like these, you’re getting more power and value than ever before.
