Introduction

Red light therapy has become one of the most popular ways to support health and wellness. If you've been researching panels, you know how overwhelming the options can be.

As someone who's reviewed red light therapy panels for over six years, I've tested almost everything: the gimmicks, the great ones, the imports from Alibaba—you name it. Through all this testing, I've gained valuable insights, and today, I’m here to help you find the best panel for your needs. So today I reveal my best red light therapy panels at home - including both the smaller wall panels as well as bigger body panels!

Earlier this year, I compared 17 panels, breaking down their features, performance, and value to identify the top contenders. In this article, I’ll review some of the best options, categorized by size and performance, to help you make the most informed choice.

💡
Affiliate Disclosure: I received a complimentary product to review. However, my receipt of the product did not influence the outcome of this review. I try to be as fair and critical as possible in any review, and this review reflects my genuine and honest opinion of the product.

Wall-Mounted Panels:

Let's start with "wall panels," the most common entry point for people into red light therapy. These typically feature 200-300 LEDs and offer a good balance of power and portability. While their smaller size limits full-body coverage, they’re excellent for targeted treatments or those on a tighter budget.

From my earlier comparison, two panels stood out:

Block Blue Light Power Mega Panel: A Solid Contender

The Block Blue Light Power Mega 4.0 Panel was second in my 2024 comparison video. This panel features 300 LEDs delivering five wavelengths: 630nm and 660nm red light, along with 810nm, 830nm, and 850nm near-infrared light. Its tested power rating is an impressive 87mW/cm².

The panel's design focuses on practical usability. At 12 inches wide, it provides decent body coverage while remaining manageable for most users. The light blending technology ensures even distribution across the treatment area, which is crucial for consistent results.

One particularly appealing aspect is the company's global presence, with warehouses worldwide ensure reasonable shipping costs regardless of your location. The panel has a user-friendly remote control and offers pulsing functionality - a feature not all competitors include.

However, it's worth noting some limitations. The absence of an app might disappoint tech-savvy users, and the panel lacks some specialized wavelengths like blue light or 1060nm near-infrared. The 12-inch width, while practical, means you'll need multiple sessions to treat larger body areas.

Summary:

Pros:

  • Blended Light: Provides excellent body coverage.
  • High Power Output: Not market-leading but still robust.
  • Size and Accessories: It has a compact 12-inch width, a good manual, reliable customer support, and global warehouses for affordable shipping.
  • Features: Easy-to-use remote, pulsing options, custom dimming, and a sleek control panel.

Cons:

  • No App: Lacks advanced control features that are available in some competitors.
  • Limited Wavelengths: Missing blue, amber, or 1060nm near-infrared light.
  • Size Constraints: At 12 inches wide, full-body treatment requires multiple units or repositioning.

Platinum LED Biomax 900: The Feature-Rich Option

In my comparison video, the PlatinumLED Biomax 900 comes in first. It is priced at $1,299, but with my discount, you can get it for $1,234. The power output is impressive at 90mW/cm², slightly edging out the Block Blue Light panel.

What sets the Biomax 900 apart is its seven-wavelength system. In addition to the standard red and near-infrared wavelengths, it includes blue light and 1060nm near-infrared—additions that expand its therapeutic potential.

My team and I have extensively researched the benefits of red light therapy. Be sure to check out the articles on my website. Red Light Therapy Wavelengths Benefits: The Ultimate Guide

The panel's versatility shines through its connectivity options. Multiple units can be linked together—I use a quad setup with four Biomax 900 panels. The included app enhances the user experience, offering advanced control options beyond the standard remote.

However, there are trade-offs. The single-chip LED design means light distribution isn't as uniform as some competitors. International shipping costs can be significant, and the panel doesn't offer pulsing functionality. The power distribution also favors two primary wavelengths, which might not suit all treatment needs.

Summary:

Pros:

  • Innovative Wavelengths: Includes blue and 1060nm near-infrared.
  • Exceptional Power: Ideal for high-intensity treatments.
  • Versatility: Multiple panels can be linked for extended coverage, offering both standard and upgraded remotes.
  • Convenience: Free app for seamless control and excellent wireless connectivity.

I aim to be as affiliated with all light therapy companies as possible to remove bias. If you purchase products through links in the article, I receive a small commission, which helps fund these reviews and helps you make informed decisions.

Cons:

  • No Pulsing: A notable omission.
  • High International Shipping Costs: Free only in the USA.
  • Light Distribution: Single-chip LEDs focus power on fewer wavelengths, resulting in less even coverage.

Mito Red Light MitoPRO 1500X:

The Mito Pro 1500X takes a different approach to design. While it ranked fifth in my comparison video, it offers unique features that deserve attention. It's the only panel incorporating amber light (590nm), which provides additional therapeutic benefits.

Priced at $1,249, use my discount code ALEX5 to get it for $1,187. The panel’s taller design makes it ideal for those prioritizing height over width. While this means less width coverage, it can be advantageous for treating longer body sections in a single session. The power output of 75mW/cm² is respectable, though not market-leading.

The touchscreen control system and accompanying app show attention to user experience, though the app could use refinement. The unique floor stand design allows vertical stacking of two panels, offering flexibility in treatment setup.

Summary:

Pros:

  • Amber Light: Exclusive 590nm wavelength with documented benefits.
  • Customer Support: Strong policies and free US shipping.
  • Advanced App: Tracks sessions for tech-savvy users.

I have interviewed company founders, researchers, and individuals who are knowledgeable and passionate about red light therapy. You can watch these interviews on YouTube or listen to them on your favorite podcast. Here's one of my interviews with Mito Red Light's CEO: MitoRedLight Scott Chaverri Interview: CEO Explains All

Cons:

  • Narrow Design: Limits shoulder-to-shoulder coverage.
  • Underpowered: 75mW/cm² falls short of competitors.
  • App Issues: Features are promising but lack polish.

Moving Up: Mid-Size Panels

The Mito Light Biohacker: Bridging the Gap

The Mito Light Biohacker is a step up in size with 400 LEDs and a 16-inch width. At $1,884, use my discount code to purchase it for $1695. It offers six wavelengths through dual-chip LEDs, ensuring excellent light blending. While its 71mW/cm² is lower than smaller panels, it compensates with broader coverage.

The Mito Light Biohacker features advanced wireless connectivity options, making it exceptionally user-friendly. The sophisticated dimming controls allow for precise adjustment of treatment intensity, which is particularly valuable for those who need to build up their exposure gradually or require varying intensities for different conditions.

The Mito Light Biohacker fills a niche between basic wall-mounted panels and full-body systems. It offers an excellent compromise for users who find standard panels too small but aren't ready to commit to a full-body system. The combination of increased treatment area, sophisticated wavelength technology, and modern control features justifies its position in the mid-premium price range.

Pros:

  • Unique Design: Dual-chip LEDs blend red and near-infrared light seamlessly.
  • Wireless Features: Connectivity and dimming options enhance usability.
  • Global Shipping: Free and hassle-free.

Cons:

  • Lower Power: 71mW/cm² lags behind competitors.
  • High Price: Puts it out of reach for budget-conscious buyers.
  • Size Limitations: It still doesn’t provide full-body coverage in one go.

(Full) Body Panels:

I created a video exploring the Best Body Panels of 2024. By "body panel," I mean a red light therapy device designed to treat most of your body in one session. I highly recommend checking out that video.

However, this article will focus on the top two panels from that comparison.

Second Place: Block Blue Light Elite XL

The Block Blue Light Elite XL came in second place, a panel that stands out with its impressive 720 LEDs. This is a significant upgrade compared to models like the Mito Light Biohacker, which has 400 LEDs, and the Block Blue Light Mega, which features just 300 LEDs.

Of course, the additional LEDs come with a higher price tag. The Elite XL retails for $3,500, but by using the discount code “ALEX” at checkout, you can save 15%, bringing the price down to under USD 3,000. Shipping costs are also quite reasonable, even for international orders.

Regarding specs, the Elite XL offers five different wavelengths, a solid power output of approximately 77 mW/cm², and advanced functionality. It boasts a responsive touchscreen control, a remote, versatile stand options, and dual-chip LEDs. Another bonus: it runs quietly and comes with a detailed manual.

From a technical standpoint, the panel draws only 11 amps, which is well within the 15-amp limit of most standard power outlets in the US. This means you can plug it in and use it without requiring specialized wiring.

Downsides of the Elite XL

The primary downside is its size. While it covers a substantial area, it doesn’t treat the entire body from head to toe. You’ll need to reposition yourself to treat your head and skip your ankles—or vice versa. Similarly, if you’re a larger individual, the panel might not fully cover your arms and shoulders in one session.

Summary: Block Blue Light Elite XL

  • Price: $3,500 (With discount code, ~$2,975)
  • Features:
    • 720 LEDs
    • Five wavelengths:630nm660nm810nm83nm, and 850nm, with an even 50/50 split between red and near-infrared light.
    • 77 mW/cm² average power

Pros:
This panel balances size and functionality, offering dual-chip LEDs for optimal light blending. It’s large enough to cover a significant portion of the body while remaining portable. It runs quietly, comes with thoughtful accessories, and doesn’t require advanced electrical work for installation.

Cons:
Despite its size, it doesn’t provide full-body coverage in one session. Larger users may need to shift positions to target their entire body.

First Place: Rojo Therapy Refine 3600

The Rojo Therapy Refine 3600 was number one in my body panel comparison video. This massive panel, measuring 24 inches across, is significantly wider than the Block Blue Light Elite XL’s 16.5-inch width.

It features an incredible 1,200 LEDs and emits five wavelengths. The retail price is USD 3,700, but with the discount code “ALEX,” it's reduced to $3,300.

Although its power output is slightly lower at 72 milliwatts per square centimeter, it still delivers an effective dose. The Rojo Refine 3600 has robust features, including a control panel (though on the smaller side), preset modes for muscle recovery, bone health, general inflammation, and the ability to save custom settings. You can tweak the intensity of specific wavelengths and save these configurations directly to the device—a feature unique to this panel (at the time of filming).

Additional highlights include pulsing modes, quiet operation, low EMF levels, and compatibility with a handy app. The app makes navigating the advanced features easier than using the small control panel. Shipping is free worldwide, a significant perk considering the panel’s size.

Downsides of the Rojo Refine 3600

The panel’s size and weight are its most significant drawbacks. It requires at least two people to move and set up, and once in place, it’s not something you’ll want to move frequently. There’s also a potential issue with standard US power outlets. On paper, the panel shouldn’t run on a regular 120-volt outlet, though this isn’t a problem for countries using 240 volts.

The Rojo Refine 3600 is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a large panel with cutting-edge features at a competitive price. It can treat your entire body on one side, allowing you to flip around for comprehensive coverage. While it may not fit every budget or space, it’s a top-tier option for those prioritizing performance and full-body coverage.

Summary: Rojo Therapy Refine 3600

  • Price: $3,700 (With discount code, ~$3,300)
  • Features:
    • 1,200 LEDs
    • There are five wavelengths: 25% is assigned to 630nm, another 25% to 660nm, and 17% each to 810nm, 830nm, and 850nm.
    • 72 mW/cm² average power

Pros:
This massive panel offers full-body coverage, with preset modes for specific benefits like muscle recovery and inflammation reduction. It’s whisper-quiet, low-EMF, and includes pulsing and an advanced app.

Cons:
Its size and weight make it difficult to move and install without help, and its compatibility with standard US outlets may be a concern.

Final Thoughts: Finding the Best Panel for Your Needs:

Your choice ultimately depends on several factors. For budgets around $1,200, the Platinum LED Biomax 900 or Block Blue Light Mega panel offers excellent value. The Mito Hacker provides a good middle ground if you can stretch to about $1,900.

The choice between the Block Blue Light Elite XL and Rojo Refine 3600 for full-body treatment comes down to space and power requirements. The Rojo offers more complete coverage but requires careful installation and consideration of the power supply.

Remember to consider the initial cost and practical factors like treatment time, space requirements, and power availability. While smaller panels offer flexibility, larger panels save significant time by treating more area at once.

The best panel fits your space, budget, and treatment needs while providing reliable, consistent results. When deciding, consider your long-term therapy goals, as investing in a larger panel might save you time and money in the long run. So there are great best red light therapy at home panels for everyone!
