Best Red Light Therapy Full-Body Panels 2024: Huge Comparison!
On this page
Introduction

The search for the ideal panel for red light therapy can be overwhelming. But today, we’re diving deep into five top-tier red light therapy full-body panels and comparing them head-to-head to determine which one is the best for you.

From overall performance and size to power, budget options, and more, we’ll cover it all to help you choose the best panel for your needs. I will test them, compare each side by side, measure their performance, and quantify the data so you can make the best decision.

But I’m not just looking for the best overall panel. I’ll also name the top choice for those on a strict budget but still want a large panel, the best option for international buyers, and a few other special award winners.

I’ll introduce each panel and then walk through several comparison rounds to see how they compare. So let’s dive in—I’m excited to start this!

The 5 Panels in This Comparison Series (In No Particular Order)

  1. Rouge Care G3 Ultimate
This beast of a panel is impressively 175 cm high and 54cm wide. It provides full-body coverage from head to toe and shoulder to shoulder. It’s equipped with 1200 single-chip LEDs packed with power. This panel is no joke—its size and intensity make it a true heavy hitter in this lineup.

  1. Mito Red Light Mega X
While still considered a body panel, it’s smaller, standing at 155cm tall. I have to lift the panel to ensure the top of my head is treated, which would exclude my ankles from the treatment zone. It’s also narrower, at 35cm, and features 600 dual-chip LEDs for 1200 LED chips. While compact, it’s still powerful for its size.

  1. PlatinumLED BioMax 900 Quad Setup
Unlike the others, this isn’t a single panel but a combination of four BioMax 900 panels, each with 300 LEDs. You can mount all four together and control them from a single device, giving you a comprehensive body treatment option.

The total LED treatment area measures 172cm by 49cm, providing full-body coverage. What’s great about this setup is that if you’re on a budget, you can buy the panels individually and slowly build out your array.

  1. Block Blue Light Elite XL
Block Blue Light performed exceptionally well in my 2024 comparison series, with their smaller panel, the Mega 4.0, taking second place.

Although the Elite XL panel is the smallest in this lineup, measuring 150cm tall and 36cm wide, it still packs 720 dual-chip LEDs—more than the Mito Red Light Mega X. Its compact size and high-density LEDs make it a unique contender.

  1. Rojo Therapy Refine 3600
The Rojo 900 placed 3rd in my 2024 smaller panel comparison, and their Refine 3600 is a powerful player in the body panel category.

This panel is 172cm tall and 54cm wide, with 1200 dual-chip LEDs for 2400 LED chips. It’s a serious piece of equipment that provides powerful full-body treatment coverage.

Round 1: Size

Regarding size and treatment coverage, the more extensive the panel, the better the overall treatment experience. Let’s break down how each panel fares:

  • Rouge Care G3 Ultimate takes up a lot of real estate, covering 175cm by 54cm. That’s massive, providing full-body coverage with no need to reposition the panel.
Rouge Ultimate
  • Rojo Therapy Refine 3600 isn’t far behind. Dual-chip LEDs cover nearly the same area at 172cm by 54cm, making it an excellent option for full-body treatments.
  • The PlatinumLED BioMax 900 Quad's treatment area is 172cm by 49cm, with four combined panels. Though it offers full-body treatment, the multi-panel setup might not be as convenient as a larger panel.
  • Mito Red Light Mega X, while still effective, is shorter at 155cm and narrower at 35cm. For taller users, this may require repositioning during treatment, which can be a hassle.
Mito Red Light Mega X
  • Block Blue Light Elite XL is the smallest panel in this lineup. At 150cm tall and 36cm wide, it offers the least coverage, which means more repositioning or missed spots during a single session.

Winner of Round 1: Size

First Place: Rojo Therapy Refine 3600
This panel takes the crown for size thanks to its excellent treatment coverage and dual-chip LED power.

Second Place: Rouge Care G3 Ultimate
A close second, the Rouge panel delivers great coverage but lacks the dual-chip technology seen in the Rojo panel.

Third Place: Platinum LED BioMax 900 Quad Setup
Though impressive with its multi-panel system, the setup might not be as user-friendly or compact as the single-unit panels.

Fourth Place (tie): Block Blue Light Elite XL and Mito Red Light Mega X
Both these panels have limitations in coverage, though the Block Blue Light Elite XL edges out slightly in terms of the number of LEDs.

Round 2: Power

In this round, we’re looking at two key metrics to measure the power of each red light therapy panel: average irradiance and total therapeutic light output.

Now, let’s dive into the results.

Irradiance Breakdown

For irradiance, I take multiple readings across the face of each panel, average them out, and then calculate the power at a distance of 6 inches.

The Platinum LED BioMax 900 Quad is the most powerful panel in this comparison, with a raw irradiance of over 90.

Alex testing the smaller siblings/

Then, we have three panels clustered in the 70s range for irradiance: the Rouge Care G3 Ultimate with an average irradiance of 79, the Rojo Therapy Refine 3600 at 72, and the Block Blue Light Elite XL at 71.

Finally, Mito Red Light Mega X has an irradiance of only 56.

Total Therapeutic Light Output

Total therapeutic light output measures the total light energy the panel delivers in watts.

When we factor in the size of each panel, things get interesting.

Despite the BioMax 900's high irradiance, the Rouge G3 Ultimate and Rojo Therapy Refine 3600's massive treatment areas help them catch up with the BioMax in terms of total light output. This is because larger panels can deliver more light over a more significant area, evening out the competition with BioMax regarding total watts of therapeutic light.

Alex with the Rojo 3600 and the Rojo 900

In contrast, the Mito Red Light Mega X is significantly behind because of its smaller size and lower irradiance. It produces only 328 watts of total light output, far below the others in this group.

Current Standings After Two Rounds

We’ve got a three-way tie for first place, with Rojo Therapy Refine 3600, Rouge Care G3 Ultimate, and Platinum LED BioMax 900 Quad Setup each having

The Block Blue Light Elite XL is 4th place, and Mito Red Light Mega X is 5th.

Round 3: Wavelengths

For Round 3, we’re exploring the wavelengths that each panel emits. Strong irradiance and a large treatment area are essential for red light therapy, but getting suitable wavelengths is just as critical. The wavelengths, or “colors” of light, determine the specific benefits you receive from the panel.

I won’t go into deep detail here since we’ve covered this extensively at Light Therapy Insiders and in our previous videos. The key takeaway is that all five panels in this comparison emit wavelengths backed by solid research for promoting health, reducing inflammation, boosting energy, and aiding recovery. They all work, but some panels offer more variety and unique wavelengths.

Rouge Care G3 Ultimate

The Rouge G3 Ultimate keeps it simple, emitting two tried-and-true wavelengths: 660nm red light and 850nm near-infrared. These wavelengths are well-researched and effective, but the panel needs more variety and innovation, as seen in some of the other models.

🔬
Check out the extensively researched benefits of red light therapy on my website. Here's one article on wavelengths.

Mito Red Light Mega X

The Mito Red Light Mega X steps things up, offering six wavelengths, including a unique 590nm amber light. Amber light is excellent for skin health and beauty, and some research suggests it helps with eye health and energy production.

However, the manufacturer dedicates only a small percentage of the LEDs to the 590nm wavelength. Besides amber, the Mito panel offers 630nm, 660nm, 810nm, 830nm, and 850nm wavelengths, offering diverse benefits with a good blend of red and near-infrared light.

I use a spectrometer to measure wavelengths and power!

Platinum LED BioMax 900 Quad Setup

The BioMax 900 quad setup offers an impressive seven wavelengths, two of which are unique: blue light and 1060nm near-infrared. Blue light is effective for acne and skin health, while 1060nm is a new, expensive-to-produce wavelength penetrating deeply and offering cognitive benefits.

However, as with the Mito panel, only a small percentage of the LEDs emit these unique wavelengths. Most energy still goes to the standard 660nm and 850nm wavelengths. So, while it offers variety, the energy does not distribute evenly across all wavelengths.

Block Blue Light Elite XL & Rojo Therapy Refine 3600

The Block Blue Light Elite XL and Rojo Therapy Refine 3600 panels emit five wavelengths: 630nm and 660nm in the red range and 810nm, 830nm, and 850nm in the near-infrared range.

These two stand out because they evenly disperse the energy across all wavelengths, resulting in a nice, balanced blend of red and near-infrared light. While they don’t have the unique wavelengths of the other panels, their consistent output across the board is a big plus.

Scoring for Wavelengths

  • 1st Place: Mito Red Light Mega X
With its unique amber light and a nice spread of energy across multiple wavelengths, the Mito Red Light earned 5 points to take the top spot in this round.
  • 2nd Place (Tie): Rojo Therapy Refine 3600 and Block Blue Light Elite XL
These panels offer five wavelengths with even energy distribution, earning them 3.5 points each.
  • 4th Place: PlatinumLED BioMax 900 Quad Setup
While it offers the most wavelengths, it directs most energy to the standard 660 and 850nm, earning 2 points.
  • 5th Place: Rouge Care G3 Ultimate
The Rouge panel sticks to the basics with only two wavelengths, so it finishes last in this round and earns 1 point.

Updated Standings After Three Rounds

After three rounds, here’s where we stand:

  1. Rojo Therapy Refine 3600: 11.5 points
  2. PlatinumLED BioMax 900 Quad Setup: 10 points
  3. Rouge Care G3 Ultimate: 9 points
  4. Mito Red Light Mega X: 7.5 points
  5. Block Blue Light Elite XL: 7 points
With three rounds down, the competition is heating up! The Rojo Therapy Refine 3600 takes the lead for now, but there are still more rounds to come.

Round 4: Extras

In Round 4, we examine the extras: operation, warranty, ease of use, setup, unique features, and any downsides. Paying attention to the small details can dramatically affect the overall user experience. Let’s see how each panel stacks up.

1st Place: Block Blue Light Elite XL

For a good reason, Block Blue Light Elite XL wins in this round. First, it comes with a remote, which is a convenience many users will appreciate. It also features a sleek touchscreen that’s intuitive and easy to navigate, making setup a breeze—plug it in, and you’re ready to go.

While it’s a large panel, it’s light enough to move around, unlike some bigger models requiring two or three people to handle. Hanging it is easy, thanks to the wall mounting bracket and pulleys included. It also boasts a market-leading five-year warranty, while the other panels only offer three years in this comparison.

Another standout feature is its pulsing capability. You can customize the pulse rate, a feature that sets it apart from models like the Mito Red Light Mega, which only has a fixed 10 Hz pulsing mode, and the BioMax 900, which has no pulsing.

💡
Check out the article on my website to learn more about pulsing: Red Light Therapy Pulsing: Worthless Or Useful? A Science Breakdown

The Block Blue Light Elite XL operates at a whisper-quiet 43 decibels, matching the Rojo Refine 3600, and significantly quieter than the BioMax 900 and Mito Red Light Mega, which registers noise levels between 56 and 59 decibels.

On the downside, it doesn’t have an app, which could be a deal breaker for some. However, this panel still came out on top with all its other strengths for this round.

2nd Place: Rojo Therapy Refine 3600

The Rojo Therapy Refine 3600 earns second place thanks to its smart features. While it doesn’t come with a remote, it has an app that lets you control the panel.

Although the warranty is only three years, Rojo’s standout feature is its smart mode, which allows you to select preset treatment modes for bone recovery, muscle recovery, skin repair, and more. These modes automatically adjust your wavelength, intensity, time, and pulsing rate. Plus, you can save custom protocols to the panel, something no other model in this comparison offers.

This versatility and whisper-quiet operation helped the Rojo Refine 3600 secure second place in this round.

3rd Place: Mito Red Light Mega X

Coming in third is the Mito Red Light Mega X. While it lacks some of the standout features seen in the top two, it still has pulsing capability (though limited to 10 Hz) and decent ease of use.

The panel’s three-year warranty is standard, but it doesn’t include a remote, which may be a drawback for some users. Overall, the Mito Red Light Mega X holds its own but doesn’t excel in this category.

4th Place: Rouge Care G3 Ultimate

The Rouge Care G3 Ultimate panel came in fourth. It’s missing key features like a touchscreen or pulsing mode, which placed it behind the other panels in this round. Its operation and warranty are average, but nothing makes it stand out in this category.

5th Place: PlatinumLED BioMax 900 Quad Setup

The BioMax 900 setup has some outstanding features but is last because of a few significant drawbacks. For one, it lacks pulsing capabilities that are available in other panels.

Another area for improvement is the dead space in the middle of the panel, which results in inconsistent light coverage, especially at certain distances. While I’ve used this setup for years, and it provides head-to-toe and shoulder-to-shoulder coverage, this design flaw knocks it down a few points. It’s loud, between 56 and 59 decibels, and has no remote.

Updated Standings After Round 4

With the scores from this round, let’s see how the panels rank:

  1. Rojo Therapy Refine 3600: 15.5 points
The Rojo panel holds first place, extending its lead with smart features and solid performance across all rounds.
  2. Block Blue Light Elite XL: 12 points.
After coming in last in the previous round, Block Blue Light jumps to second place with its excellent ease of use, quiet operation, and unique features.
  3. PlatinumLED BioMax 900 Quad Setup: 11 points
Despite its solid power and variety of wavelengths, the BioMax is a third-place finisher primarily because of its design flaws and lack of pulsing.
  4. Rouge Care G3 Ultimate: 11 points
Rouge stays steady in third equal but doesn’t shine in this round because it lacks extra features.
  5. Mito Red Light Mega X: 10.5 points
Though competitive in earlier rounds, the Mito panel lags slightly behind, but it’s still close in this tight competition.
While the Rojo Therapy Refine 3600 remains the top spot, there’s still plenty of competition among the other panels. With only a few points separating second through fifth place, it’s still anyone’s game as we head into the final rounds!

Round 5: Price

Let’s dive into Round 5, where we’re strictly looking at price. If money is no issue and you want the best panel regardless of cost, skip back to the previous standings and purchase based on those results.

However, if you’re looking for the best all-round panel factoring in price, this round will help you narrow down your options.

It’s important to note that I’m using discounted prices here. The prices on their websites might differ slightly from the ones I’m using here, as I’m factoring in my exclusive discounts.

1st Place: Mito Red Light Mega X

The Mito Red Light Mega X is the least expensive option in this comparison, at $2,516. It’s also the most affordable panel, making it a great value if price is your primary consideration. However, remember that it’s also one of the smaller panels with fewer LEDs, so you’re trading off some power and coverage.

2nd Place: Block Blue Light Elite XL

Next is the Block Blue Light Elite XL, priced at $2,975. While slightly more expensive than the Mito, it’s still relatively affordable considering its features, such as the remote, pulsing capabilities, and ease of use. For under $3,000, it provides excellent value for its size and functionality.

3rd Place: Rojo Therapy Refine 3600

The Rojo Therapy Refine 3600 is third, at $3,300. This panel offers smart modes, app functionality, and advanced customization features, making it a solid contender if you spend more. The price reflects its added features, but it’s still reasonably affordable considering its performance.

4th Place: Platinum LED BioMax 900 Quad Setup

The BioMax 900 Quad Setup is in fourth place, priced at $4,700. This setup is a powerhouse with multiple panels, extensive coverage, and seven wavelengths, but it’s also much more expensive. The higher price reflects its size, complexity, and inclusion of multiple panels, but it may not be the best option if budget is a concern.

5th Place: Rouge Gear G3 Ultimate

The Rouge G3 Ultimate is the priciest panel in this comparison, costing $4,913. However, it is massive and powerful and is the top choice if you want the largest and best option, regardless of the cost.

Ranking for Price

  1. Mito Red Light Mega X: USD 2,516
  2. Block Blue Light Elite XL: USD 2,975
  3. Rojo Therapy Refine 3600: USD 3,300
  4. Platinum LED BioMax 900 Quad Setup: USD 4,700
  5. Rouge Gear G3 Ultimate: USD 4,913

This round shows that while price is important, it’s not the only factor determining the best panel for you. The Rojo Therapy Refine 3600 stays in the lead thanks to its balance of features, power, and value. Meanwhile, the Block Blue Light Elite XL is proving to be a great budget-friendly option with excellent features for the price.

Final Standings After Round 5:

With all the rounds complete, we now have the final points tallied up, and here's how each panel stacks up:

5th Place: Rouge G3 Ultimate (12 Points)

The Rouge G3 Ultimate comes in fifth place. While it's a solid panel with trusted wavelengths, it falls behind due to its basic feature set and higher price.

It's effective but lacks the advanced features that many other panels in this comparison offer. If this is the only panel you can access, you'll still see great results, but compared to the others, it’s more limited.

4th Place: PlatinumLED BioMax 900 Multi Light System (13 Points)

Despite being my setup for years and delivering excellent results, the PlatinumLED BioMax 900 takes fourth place. The most significant drawbacks are the price and the gap in coverage through the center of the panel, which reduces the light exposure in that area.

It's still a strong performer and allows users to build their setup over time by purchasing one panel at a time, which is excellent flexibility. However, due to these factors, it couldn’t climb higher in terms of overall ranking.

3rd Place: Mito Red Light Mega X (15.5 Points)

The Mito Red Light Mega X takes the third spot. It offers a great range of wavelengths with plenty of power going to the key wavelenghts, and adding amber light is a nice touch. It also has a sleek touchscreen and has a decent price, making it a popular option.

However, the downside is its smaller size and fewer LEDs than the other small panels. While it’s a fantastic option for those on a budget, it doesn’t offer the same full-body coverage or feature set as the top two panels.

2nd Place: Block Blue Light Elite XL (16 Points)

The Block Blue Light Elite XL performs very well and takes second place. It offers great features such as pulsing capabilities, a remote, and a well-balanced price.

However, its smaller size prevents it from taking the top spot. While it’s an excellent panel for those who want a quality device without breaking the bank, the lack of full-body coverage knocks it down a notch. It might feel limited for those looking to treat larger areas, but it’s an impressive and capable device.

1st Place: Rojo Therapy Refine 3600 (Champion with 17 Points)

The Rojo Therapy Refine 3600 takes the crown with an impressive 17 points. This panel offers everything you could want: full-body coverage, advanced features like pulsing and dimming, five wavelengths, smart modes, and the ability to save custom protocols.

It’s whisper-quiet and hits all the marks, from head to toe. With its competitive price point, powerful performance, and massive size, it’s no surprise this panel comes out on top. Whether after power, versatility, or value, the Rojo 3600 delivers it all.

The Rojo Therapy Refine 3600 emerges as the best all-around panel. It offers unmatched coverage and a robust feature set at a great price, making it the ideal choice for the complete red light therapy experience.

Late Announcement: Upcoming Block Blue Light Panel

Before wrapping up, I have a very late-breaking announcement to share.

I was on the phone with the founder of Block Blue Light just 24 hours ago. During the conversation, I mentioned that I was filming this comparison today. He asked if I could delay the shoot, but unfortunately, it wasn't possible with limited studio time and the panels needing to be returned soon.

🎤
I have interviewed company founders, researchers, and individuals who are knowledgeable and passionate about red light therapy. You can watch these interviews on YouTube or listen to them on your favorite podcast. My interview with the founder of Block Blue Light, Dan Ebbett: Circadian Rhythm As Health GAME-CHANGER!?

Here's the exciting part: Block Blue Light will release a 1200 LED full-size body panel! Their 720 LED Elite XL panel is currently their top offering for a body pane. While I don’t have any details on the exact release date, price, or any notable new features, this could significantly shake up the rankings.

Block Blue Lights's Elite XL

Given how well their current panel has performed in this review, a full-body, larger panel from Block Blue Light would be worth watching. This game-changer could offer serious competition to the Rojo Therapy Refine 3600.

Stay tuned for updates on this panel. I’ll review it as soon as it's available and post details in our Facebook group as soon as I have more information.
